Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
1. Information we collect
Account information: your name, username, email address, optional mobile number, password (stored only as a secure hash), profile photo, cover photo, bio and city. Content you create: posts, comments, Loops, stories, messages, voice clips and Circle activity. Usage information: login history (time, device/browser and approximate network address), points, streaks and in-app activity needed to run features like levels and challenges.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to operate Knotvia (your profile, feed, Friends, chat and Groups), to keep the community safe (moderation, abuse and spam prevention, enforcing our Guidelines), to personalise your experience (suggestions, challenges, notifications you control), and to communicate with you about your account — for example verification codes and password resets.
3. What others can see
Your name, username, photo and bio are public by default. You can make your account private in Settings so only your Knots see your posts, choose an audience (Public, Knots only, Only me) for each post, block any member, and control each type of notification. Messages are private between the participants. Circle posts in private Circles are visible only to approved members.
4. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run the service (for example, hosting and email delivery providers acting on our instructions) or where required by law or a valid court order.
5. Cookies
Knotvia uses a small number of cookies — mainly a session cookie that keeps you logged in. See our Cookie Policy for details.
6. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account: your posts, comments, Reels and stories are permanently removed; your name on any remaining messages is replaced with "Deleted User"; and your profile information is anonymised. Some records (for example moderation and security logs) may be retained for a limited period where needed for safety or legal reasons.
7. Your rights and controls
From Settings you can: edit your profile, change your email and password, review active sessions and log out other devices, download a copy of your data (profile, posts, comments, Knots and message metadata) as a JSON file, deactivate your account (reversible by logging back in), or permanently delete your account. You may also contact us about access, correction or deletion requests.
8. Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text. Login attempts are rate-limited and recorded so you can review them. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password and tell us quickly via Support if you suspect misuse of your account.
9. Children
Knotvia is for people aged 13 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will remove it.
10. Changes and contact
We will announce material changes to this Policy on Knotvia. Questions or privacy requests: use the Contact & Support page.
